A Hexham Book Festival Event

A special event hosted by Jane Torday, for The Hexham Book Festival. In the Village Hall, opposite the entrance up to The Garden Station, two authors will talk about their books. Each reveals both deep personal quest and fine historical research.

‘Nature’s Alchemist’ by Anna Parkinson is a personal and revealing biography revealing the importance and dedication of her ancestor, John Parkinson, who was gardener and herbalist to Charles 1st, and author of two books 'often considered to be the greatest books on herbs and plants ever published'. Anna Parkinson's book has received excellent reviews.

‘The Apple Source Book’ by Sue Clifford and Angela King investigates and celebrates the hundreds of varieties of apples grown in England over the years and aspires to encourage the reintroduction and cultivation of local varieties for local use. It also contains fifty apple recipes from leading food writers and chefs.
